About SUNG, Mee Young

I am a professor at the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, University of Incheon, South Korea. I received my B.Sc. from Seoul National University, South Korea and my M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from INSA Lyon (Institut National des Sciences Appliquees de Lyon), France. After joining the department of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Incheon, I have taught many undergraduate and graduate courses on Operating Systems, Unix/Linux Programming, Networked Multimedia Systems, Haptics and Virtual Reality, etc. I also carried out the development of many prototype systems and published research papers while I have been directing Marvelab (Multimedia and Advanced Real Virtual Environment LABoratory). My current research interests are haptic audio visual system, tele-haptics, sound-driven haptic feedback, and multimedia collaborative virtual reality. I was a visiting scholar at the Advanced Multimedia Processing (AMP) Laboratory at Carnegie Mellon University from August 2001 until August 2002. I had been included in Marquis Who's Who in the World, 2006 (23rd) Edition. Since March 2006 until August 2008, I was the director of the ¡°Ubiquitous Entertainment¡± Team from the BK21 (BrainKorea21) project supported by the Korean Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development. In February 2008, I was given the "Distinguished Award and Prize¡± from the University of Incheon for the achievement of being selected as the ¡°Best Team¡± at the first year¡¯s evaluation of the BK21 program. Currently, I am a visiting scholar at Tele-Immersion Laboratory, Computer Science Division, University of California, Berkeley.
